On This Day in Hersheypark History

Post  Stormwinder on Sat Dec 19, 2009 5:31 pm

    December 19, 1936
The Hershey Sports Arena opened its doors for the first time on this day in 1936. Since then the arena has seen millions of visitors to hockey games, concerts, and other sporting events and special events. The Arena holds 7,225 seats during hockey games and up to 8, 000 during concerts. The arena celebrates 73 years of service today.

I'm glad that it is still being used for events and the Bear's practice rink. I didn't know what would happen to it when Giant Center was originally announced.

Wow, 73 years. That's an accomplishment. I've never been inside the arena, but I like that they use it to this day.
