I've been following construction on this for the past year and a half and the basic concept is that SFOT is taking thier Texas Giant coaster, which is known for it's horrible roughness, hiring Rocky Mountain Coasters, replacing the wooden track with steel and modifying the layout slightly.
The park's facebook page has posted a POV of the remodeled ride and has allowed some of the members of TPR get a chance to ride it. So far the reviews are that it seems to be just as good as El Toro. If this is the case, then there might be a couple good years ahead for Rocky Mountain Coasters.
Here's a link to the POV on the facebook page:

I really need to start following stuff other then HersheyPark! I knew this was going on but I didn't know it looked this awsome. Were those couple 90* banked turns like that when it was still track?

From Theme Park Review.

Nope. They increased the height of the lift, made the first drop steeper, added an airtime hill before the first turn and added some overbanked turns. I have a feeling it could be a good contender with the Intamin Plug-and-Play coasters and rank high on Mitch Hawker's coaster poll.

Perhaps this ought to be done to Cedar Point's Mean Streak and to both the Hurlers at Kings Dominion and Carowinds. I usually seem to hear people complaining quite often about how rough Mean Streak is. I never did have the chance to ride it in neither of my two visits there. Hurler isn't too bad (I rode the one at KD), but it could be better with such a refurbishment.

Yeah I thought Hurler was fun and extremly rough but I really don't think it would be worthy for a rehaul. Honestly I think grizzly would be a better canidate. Not for the steel tracks because that would take from the ride but just for retracking. I also think that they should re do that first turn. It takes all the momentum away from the first drop and could make the speed a little higher throughout the rest of the ride.

From what I've heard, Rattler at Six Flags Fiesta Texas has been recieving the Rocky Mountian treatment and that there have been rumors going around about Son-of-Beast getting it as well, but I really don't see it being worth it unless they modify the layout and make it longer.
