Hersheypark: Skyrush Announcement Media Day (8/2)

Post  HPCrazy on Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:21 pm

Hershey announced their 12th roller coaster SKYRUSH today in Comet Hollow and Keystone Thrills was there to bring YOU all the coverage!

Hershey revving up the crowd with surprises, and trivia contests.

RUSH the Hollow signs all over the park.

12-12 markers on the ground guiding guests to the announcement area in Comet Hollow.

The 12-12 marker in Comet Hollow at the announcement area.

All park employees had "RUSH The Hollow" t-shirts on and were required to wear them up until the time of the announcement.

    A cherry picker...hmmm wonder what that's for.

The crowd waiting for announcement time.

The characters get in on the action.

    The announcement!

Looks like the cherry picker was used to raise a red balloon depicting the height of the new coaster.

    The facts!

How about a meet-up with Rocky LaMarcus, the Ride Institute of Technology and Jan Van Der Velde?

And there you have it - the "official" logo of our brand new scream machine! SKYRUSH!

And here's some of our video coverage from the announcement as well:

I will also be featuring a Photo Documentary of Comet Hollow in its current form. We will also be following the construction of SKYRUSH throughout the remainder of the season as well as through the off-season all the way to opening day! I'll also have our "first" video update after the announcement, so expect that coming soon! Smile

And here is my SkyRush Coverage update! Enjoy!

We got there around 9:30am with a line stretching back to Hersheypark Place. Normally this would be a pain to wait in, but not today!

These guys were really pumping the crowd up! They would hold triva contests and hand out a lot of cool free swag! We got car magnets out of the deal!

All employees were given a Rush the Hollow shirt to wear today. This was a sweet idea.

The banner is gone and this photo pretty much sums up the situation.

The windows are finished on the fence. This is a great teaser view.

I think they want us to go somewhere...

Could this be where they are going to be announcing the slushie stand?

Looks like they'll be offering us a POV of how a Coke Icee is made?

    Bingo.

Gee, this guy looks vaguely familiar...

Then the product characters came out as well as the Hersheypark Band. Then there was a flash mob before the announcement. I have to admit that it was funny seeing a hershey bar dancing to Lady Gaga.

Looks like it's a good thing we got here early.

Let me introduce you to Hersheypark's 12th coaster: SkyRush.

Following the announcement, our group got to meet with the guys behind the marketing game.

They were on-hand to answer questions and talk about some of the fun times during the game.

If it wasn't for these guys, Keystone Thrills wouldn't be what it is today. Thanks guys! Smile

This sign has gone up in front of Tilt-A-Whirl, which is heard to be moved back to Founder's Circle in it's original location were Tiny Tracks is.

    More signs.

Want to ride first? Here's the chance!

Looks like we'll be able to reach the Main gate faster next year.

Think about it. Sky Rush is going to interact with 4 of the park's coasters in one spot. That's crazy!

Here's a before picture. In 297 days we can look back and be amazed at how much it has changed.

Later in the day the windows were uncovered to reveal....

...A great new spot to get construction updates from!

This new path is going to lessen the traffic to the Main Gate at closing. I feel it.

Here are the current prices for Season Passes next year.

I'll finish this part of the photo portion of the update with a cool new shot showing Comet's first drop. It seems like construction crews may have removed some of the weeds near SkyRush's first drop area.

I should have the videos up tomorrow evening and a new construction update posted soon after. Smile
