Until I did this list I didn't realize how many coasters I've actually been on...or how many parks I've visited. Also in compiling this list...I've realized there are parks I need to re-visit because there are new coasters I need to ride!

HersheyPark:
Comet
SDL
Trailblazer
Sidewinder
Great Bear
Wild Cat
Wild Mouse
Lightning Racer (been on both trains countless times, ususally on the losing train)
Roller Soaker
Storm Runner
Fahrenheit

Knoebels:
Phoenix
Twister
High Speed Thrill Coaster (now defunct)
Kosmo's Kurves

Dorney Park:
Hydra the Revenge
Possessed (then Voodoo)
Steel Force - probably the most terrifing coaster ride in my life...I thought I was going to die, it needs that much maintenance
Talon - my favorite coaster there...could have spent all day on this one!
Thunderhawk - they do not take care of their woodies like HP does...needed boards replaced all over

Cedar Point:
Blue Streak
Gemini
Iron Dragon
Magnum XL-200
Mantis
Mean Streak
Millenium Force
Raptor

Disney World:
Big Thunder Railroad
Space Mountain - I need to re-ride this one. I was very little and HATED every second of it then.

Busch Gardens - Europe:
Alpengist
Apollo's Chariot - favorite coaster of all time...I think.
Lock Ness Monster
Big Bad Wolf (sadly now defunct)

Kennywood:
Exterminator
Jack Rabbit - coolest old time car design
Phantom's Revenge - some of the best air time I've ever experienced
Racer
Thunderbolt

Six Flags - Great Adventure:
Batman
Bizarro (then Medusa)
Nitro - I miss the height benchmarks as you go up lift hill
Rolling Thunder
Runaway Mine Train
Skull Mountain
Superman - Ultimate Flight
Batman & Robin: The Chiller - still angry that I never had the chance to ride Robin...it was always shut down when I went (now defunct)
Great American Scream Machine (now defunct...no real love lost here, gave me a headache everytime)
Viper (now defunct)

Coney Island (Luna Park, Deno's Wonder Wheel and Scream Zone so far):
Coney Island Cyclone - all I can say is that the tshirts they sell "I Survived the Coney Island Cyclone" have the ride so pegged. It is one wicked coaster...warning: wear closed toe shoes!
Circus Coaster (This one got credit #50...and it was a little kiddie coaster haha!)
The Tickler
Sea Serpent
Steeplechase
Soarin Eagle

54 coasters in all...holy cow!

I've actually ridden 229 different roller coasters, and that number should get close to 250 by the end of this year. I won't list every coaster, but I will list the parks I've been to, and how many coasters I've ridden at each park or general area of attractions.

Busch Gardens Tampa (5)
Busch Gardens Williamsburg (7)
Cedar Point (16)
Clementon Lake (1)
Dollywood (4)
Dorney Park (10)
Dutch Wonderland (2)
Elitch Gardens (5)
Geauga Lake (5)
Hersheypark (12)
Jersey Shores (16)
Kennywood (6)
Kings Dominion (15)
Knoebels (5)
Knott's Berry Farm (6)
Lagoon (6)
Lake Compounce (2)
Lakemont Park (3)
Lakeside - Denver, CO (3)
Las Vegas (5)
Michigan's Adventure (6)
Pacific Park - California (1)
Six Flags America (7)
Six Flags Great Adventure (17)
Six Flags Great America (12)
Six Flags Magic Mountain (13)
Six Flags Marine World (4)
Six Flags New England (eight)
Six Flags St. Louis (6)
Universal Orlando (5)
Walt Disney World (3)
Wisconsin Dells (7)
Williams Grove (2)
Worlds of Fun (3)

Holiday World will finally be added to the list this summer, along with Indiana Beach. I hope to swing a Kings Island trip sometime this year too. I've been all around, but I don't know why those three parks, relatively close to home, are not on the list yet.

I've updated my list from the visit to Coney Island. Hopefully the next time I go Victoria Gardens in Central Park is not under water. There is a kiddie coaster in there I can nab for credit.

I had only ridden Cyclone last year. That trip wasn't really a Coney Island trip so I didn't have much time (or money) for everything out there. Plus Steeplechase and Soarin' Eagle were new for this year.

I was reading back over your coaster list and I saw that you had mentioned about riding Space Mountain when you were younger and hated it. You seriously ought to ride that one now. It's alot better with the soundtrack added into the ride.

You'd also like Exposition Everest. That's another really great ride to check out.

Forgot to add Bizzaro that I went on summer 09'. Also the last time I rode Great American Scream Machine, plus duplicates on the other coasters at Great Adventure. I will try to make it there again this year, and I'll be sure to try out the new stand-up coaster.

It was closed due to technical difficulties along with the Flyer and Premier coaster they have. My trip to SFA is my worst park trip experience ever.

I guess I'll put up my list. Smile
Hersheypark:
-Trailblazer (I don't ride very often, but it's great at night).
-Comet (Ride it after a rainstorm and it behaves like the Phoenix with a lot of floatter airtime).
-Sooperdooperlooper (Kind of like Trailblazer with a loop. Good to ride when empty).
-Great Bear (has it's on and off days, but never gets old. A decent B&M).
-Sidewinder (Much of the headbanging is gone, but what reamains is a very intense coaster).
-Storm Runner (Ride later in the day in either the front or back for airtime. Bruising ending though).
-Fahrenheit (Back seat is the best on the first drop and airtime hill).
-Roller Soaker (An okay ride. Not worth more than a 15 minute wait in my book).
-Wildcat (Roughest coaster in the park. Sit towards the front or be rattled to death. lol).
-Wild Mouse (Intense turns and a few airtime hills. Pretty good).
-Lightning Racer (Gets better each time I ride it. Airtime on many hills and competitive).

Dorney Park
-Thunderhawk (Rough coaster and needs some re-tracking).
-Talon (Thrilling layout and very enjoyable).
-Hydra: The Revenge (Pretty *meh* compared to SFGadv's Medusa, but still fun to ride).
-Steel Force: (Not very airtime-filled, but a fun speedy and high-up ride).
-Possessed: (Not very thrilling or intense. Kind of a let-down when I rode it).

Knoebels:
-High Speed Thrill Coaster (looks like a kiddie coaster, but was great with airtime on the hills).
-Phoenix (if it wasn't for SFGadv's El Toro, this would be my #1 coaster. A lot of airtime).
-Twister (it's been showing some roughness, but still fun to ride).
-Kosmo's Kurves (the park did a great job trying to recreate HSTC, airtime filled like the orignial).

Kennywood
-Phantom's Revenge: (This ride is so under-rated in my book. Just about every hill is ejecter-airtime).
-Thunderbolt: (Big layout and a fun ride, but is somewhat over-rated in my opinion).
-Jack Rabbit: (The double dip is the best part. The rest of the ride is very short and over-rated IMO).
-Exterminator: (Good ride and the theming adds to it).
-Racer ( A pretty good coaster for it's age that isn't too rough).

Six Flags Great Adventure
-Great American Scream Machine: (only had one bad ride on it, but not terrible or smooth as silk).-El Toro (Do I really have to go there? AWESOME and #1 coaster overall for me).
-Bizarro (Best B&M floorless I've ridden so far. Could do without the soundtrack though).
-Superman: Ultimate Flight (Weakest B&M I've been on so far. Pretty *meh*.
-Kingda Ka (Great ride in the front seat and can take your breath away).
-Blackbeard's Lost Train (a good family coaster, but nothing more).
-Skull Mountain (a decent coaster and the station looks cool).
-Rolling Thunder (some say it's very rough, but besides the seats being very small, not terrible).
-Runaway Mine Train (kind of like Trailblazer in my opinion).
-Nitro (best B&M overall for me. An intense layout with some airtime. What more could you want?)
-Batman: The Ride: Most intense B&M inverted coaster for me, but not the best one for me).

Luna Park
-Tickler (good, if not better than Exterminator. Has some airtime with thrilling drops).
-Clown Coaster (it may be a kiddie coaster, but it was actually pretty good for it's size).
-Cyclone (It may be 80 years old, but please, re-track it. It's my worst wooden coaster so far).

Scream Zone
-Soarin' Eagle: (more like sorein' Eagle. VERY horrible and unenjoyable. Won't ride again).
-Steeplechase: (very good launch with a bunch of swooping turns. Good ride).

Deno's Wonder Wheel Park
-Sea Serpent: (a kiddie coaster with an on-ride photo. It's pretty basic in my book).

Total as of June 28, 2011:
48 coasters

Note: Bold font is for defunct coasters.

^El Toro is such an amazing expirience and also easily sits at #1 for me! Its followed in order by Maverick, Apollo's Chariot, Sheikra, and Talon.

Everyone talks about El Toro. You guys haven't ridden the Beast yet. That thing could probably be compared to El Toro. It's my favorite wooden coaster so far.

El Toro really is one of the best wooden coasters that I have been on. Since you mentioned Beast, I will say that I am impressed by that coaster. Wink I must have watched the POV video on YouTube at least 5 times - it's one of the coasters that's on the top of my to-do list.

Have you ridden the Beast? I'd say that is up there with El Toro. I have yet to ride that one but I'm not a Great Adventure fan and IMO, they seriously need to fix the park up and add more for me to ever get out there again. I go for the entire park experience, not just coasters.

Have you ever been to Great Adventure? Judging by your list above, either you've never been to the park or you didn't ride any roller coasters when you were there.

If you have been, but it's been a while, I would suggest going back. The park has gotten better by leaps and bounds when you compare it to what it was 10 years ago.

I'm not a huge Great Adventure fan, but I definitely have more fun now than I used to.

And you can't discount the coasters. Great Adventure has one of the best collections in the world. The coasters I would rate as great are Bizarro, Green Lantern, Batman, Kingda Ka, Nitro, and especially El Toro. I actually think El Toro is the overall best roller coaster I've ever ridden.

I understand that the coasters there are good. The only one I ever did was Rolling Thunder and I was terrified of it at the time (not that I'd ever do it again because I would). I know that there are quite a few coasters there that I would definitely ride.

What I'm referring to is that the park itself really lacks in the flat ride dept. I'm not paying an outrageous admission fee, as well as $20 for parking, just ride a bunch of coasters, a sky ride, and look at a bunch of kiddie attractions. All people are different, I know there are some here who go mainly for the coasters and that's okay. I'm just the kind of person who will pay the admission to get the whole park experience (exactly why I like Cedar Point better....they have great coasters plus a variety of other rides other than kiddie rides).

That's just my two-cents but like I said, we're all different and there are some here who prefer to pay the price to mainly ride coasters and there are others who are like I am. It mainly depends on the person and their interest.

But I'm not referring to just the coasters. The park has gotten better too. However, as a coaster fan, they will take up all of your time if you have only one day to visit, just because there are so many of them. For the coasters alone, it's worth the trip, especially since it's so close to you.

Well, of course Cedar Point is better. It is a more complete park. But Hersheypark isn't exactly very strong in the flat ride department either.

Can I suggest something? I know the ticket price is through the roof, as is parking. Do what I do. Make an initial trip to Six Flags America and buy a season pass for $60. It's good at every Six Flags amusement park in the country.

Then every year you can renew it for the same price online, and they send it to you in the mail. Then you are good for "free" admission to Six Flags America, Six Flags Great Adventure, and Six Flags New England (not that far away) every single season.

As much as you seem to like Diamondback, you'll love Nitro. It just might be your #1. I'm confident El Toro will unseat the Beast for you as well.

I'd say that Great Adventure is maybe a coaster or two short of Cedar Point. I didn't do all of the coasters at Cedar Point but I did do a majority of the good ones that are there. They have a great mine train there, but I didn't ride it since I've ridden it before. I made time to check out the other rides as well.

I understand that Hershey doesn't have the flats as Cedar Point does, but for overall rides, it's a better park than Great Adventure, even though most of Great Adventure's coasters deliver a better ride experience. Great Adventure has that one area that's closed off with one or two rides SBNO (unless this changed and I don't know about it). If they do receive this flat ride package that I've heard being rumored around and if it does help improve the quality of the park and it's collection of rides as well as fix up that dead area, I "may" come back sometime in the near future.

I'm sure Nitro isn't the best B&M hyper in the world. A majority of you here have ridden it and maybe not the ones I've ridden so I can understand your love for the ride. I'm sure I will love it if I ever do ride it in the near future. I know that Apollo's Chariot and Diamondback are good B&M hypers but I'm sure there are others that are better. And I don't get what makes El Toro so great? I'm sure if I were to ride it, it would be no better than the Beast to me and I'm also sure there are other wooden coasters that are just as good or pretty close.

I have never ridden the Beast, but I'm looking forward to the day I do.

I've been to Great Adventure plenty of times, but one of my recent complaints is the same as yours. They do somewhat need to work on the experience (I mentioned this before). As for rides, their coaster lineup is superb, but some more variety on flats would do great.

It's a great park, and it's been improved from really what it used to be (as I remember it). I also go there for just the coasters, and it's a great place to do so. But when I've exhausted the coaster list and want to go on some flats, there really isn't much that interests me. The coasters alone give you bang for your buck, but I favor parks that offer more than that.

Bingo, you explained it pretty well there. Whenever I'm at Hershey and I do a bunch of coasters, I'm ready for a break to do some of the flats. On my most recent June 5th trip, I rode Fahrenheit, Sidewinder and Storm Runner back-to-back in a row. We went and rode monorail and RXCC just to relax afterwards.

What do I have at Great Adventure to do other than the Skyride and their Big Wheel ride? And I'm sure for the people who hate heights, those rides would not do them justice and what else is there for them to do? Try to go on a bunch of kiddie rides? They have the two Looney Tunes areas, do they really need the former Wiggle's World area anymore? That section is pointless wasted space that could be used for something better. Is this worth paying $20 to park or using a season pass? I don't think so. IMO, they have alot of catching up to do as far as the overall experience goes.

I'm not trying to say that I hate Great Adventure which I don't. I do think it's alot better than Six Flags America. Just like what Fanatic said, as well as myself...they need to add more flats and improve the overall experience.

Well, you could do Houdini's Great Escape, Tornado, Log flume, Tango, their pirate ship and Barrel Ride as well. Or Hang Time, and the Parachute Tower as well.
No offense, but it sounds like you are just trying to find excuses on why not to go. I went twice last year and had absolutely no problems with the experience. I never had any trouble with trying to find things to ride and I didn't ride coasters all day either. Sure they could add a few new flat rides, but what they have right now can hold guests over. Any more and then you get the situation of not getting everything you want to do done in one day.
To simply put it, don't judge a park completely until you visit it. Before I visited Luna Park and Coney Island, I thought it would be a very cheesey place in terrible shape and would resemble something like the wrong end of town. Once I visited it, I actually have to say that I really liked the place for the most part. The boardwalk was nice, Luna Park was nice, and it's a place I would like to go back again to.
Just give it a chance. What's the worse that could happen?

I wouldn't say that I'm trying to find excuses not to go, nor do I hate the place (which I don't), it's just they need to clean up their act more in order to make the place a better park experience. Like I said, they're alot better than Six Flags America (which is a joke IMO), but in my opinion, it's not as good as Cedar Point except for the coasters. Again I don't think it's just me and I know that there are others in the coaster community that probably think the same way. I think if you do at least one visit to Cedar Point, you may see where I'm coming from.

To be honest with you, I've been to Cedar Point, Kings Island and Kings Dominion, all of which are also great parks and from the park experience at each, I can find plenty to do at any of those parks than I currently would at GAdv. Now I think they (GAdv) would be even better if they were to get this rumored flat ride package for next year and I really hope they go through with it. It would be the best thing for them.

Anyways enough about GAdv. I'm sorry if we got off topic here, since this is not about debating GAdv over other parks. We all have our likes and dislikes of parks but that should be saved for another topic. Perhaps we should have a topic on "pros and cons of parks" and just discuss about it in general instead of just about one park. Then we can talk about what we like or dislike about the parks that we either have visited or want to visit.

I'm sorry, I know you guys want to get this thread back on topic. Regarding these two things...

HPCrazy wrote:

I actually think it is.

Where to begin... the fast lift, the INSANE first drop, the extreme negative G's, the head-choppers throughout the ride, the way the train just flies through the course, the surprise drops, and the silky smoothness - just to name a few things.

I've ridden a good number a roller coasters, and I think El Toro is overall the best roller coaster, start to finish, that I've ridden.

It's practically in your backyard. I understand that everyone can't just drop what they're doing and drive a few hours to a park whenever they want. But, I just don't understand how any roller coaster fan doesn't feel a need to ride it. It's that good.

Nitro is a great ride. I haven't been on Diamondback or Apollo's Chariot, so I can't really speak to the compliment of B&M hypers, but Nitro is my favorite coaster there is. Leaps and bounds better than Kingda Ka (though it's an amazing 20 seconds), and better than El Toro.

I personally rate El Toro as somewhere in the middle of the pack. I could see why others would rank it higher. It's certainly one of the most intense coasters out there. However, while I love the first half of the ride, I can't stand the back half. I absolutely do not enjoy the positive g forces as we're moving through the stupid Intamin start to turn left but bank right (or vice versa). As it stands, I hate that Intamin does it on nearly every coaster they've built in the past 10 years (and I'm sure the 2012 coaster at Hersheypark will, too). There isn't a good picture on rcdb to link to for El Toro, so here are a few examples from some other coasters (click to enlarge the thumbnails):

That last part of El Toro completely destroys my enjoyment of the ride. So, in conclusion, I don't really like El Toro all that much.

But, Great Adventure is worth going to for their set of coasters.

I have a Travel Channel show recorded somewhere that features a P.O.V. of Nitro. I may have to watch again sometime and compare it to Diamondback. I'd say those two are probably more similar than comparing Apollo's Chariot and Nitro.

I know a few people who were recently at Kings Island and they were disappointed with Diamondback. One of them is also a huge wooden coaster fan and was dying to ride Beast...he was disappointed with that ride, too.

Also, I think it's really gimmicky to have a splashdown at the end of Diamondback.

Again, it's all who likes or hates a ride. I personally like the Beast just like a majority here like El Toro. I don't know why your friends thought that the Beast was dissapointing but I'll let them be the judge there.

He told me he didn't like that you spend two of the ride's 4 minute cycle on lifts and the best part is at the end and that's not even the last 30 seconds of the ride.

I've rode everything current at Hershey Park, Dorney Park, Dutch Wonderland, Kennywood, everything pre-99 at Ceder Point, Rockin Rollercoaster at what was MGM (name escapes me), boulder dash (great coaster that everyone should ride), hulk, Dualing dragons (both fire and ice), Space Mountain (before renovations), Loch Ness Monster, Alpengeist, Apollo's Chariot, Big Bad Wolf, and everything pre-01 at Canada's wonderland.

After I re-read my list I figured one thing out...I need to travel more and see coasters from other places than the NE USA...

Edited once again, Knobeles trip this past Saturday. Thank heavens it was one of the hottest days of the year! Everyone was in the pool area so I had all the rides virtually to myself. Though I did have to wait about 20 minutes in line to nab that new credit. Kosmo's Kurves is a pretty spiffy kiddie coaster. Somehow I lucked into the front seat and almost flew out of my seat. Same thing happens on Phoenix though on a much grander scale...I had to remember to hold on. Haha. Great trip though, and I got credit number 55 out of the mix!

Just updated my list. I edited a few things and made it a little more organized.
Also I added Manta from SeaWorld Orlando, as well as the Woody Woodpecker Coaster, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and Revenge of the Mummy from Universal Studios Orlando.

The only coasters I did not get a chance to ride were Primeval Whirl (Animal Kingdom) and Goofy's Barnstormer (Magic Kingdom). Primeval Whirl was being renovated, and the Barnstormer was closed off as expected for the Fantasyland development.

I updated my list. I visited Knoebels recently...just rode each coaster once while there.

Another thing to add...the only other rides/attractions that were closed were the Enchanted Tiki Room at Magic Kingdom, Sounds Dangerous at Hollywood Studios and Ripsaw Falls at Universal Islands of Adventure.

Rock n' Rollercoaster was shut down on the past Saturday, and they didn't tell anyone why or when it will reopen. Also, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was shut down for a few hours due to lightning the day after, and kept shutting down/reopening while I was on line.

I mentioned that the Enchanted Tiki Room was one of the rides closed during my trip, but it has apparently reopened just today. The work they did looks good... too bad I happened to miss it by just a week.

Yeah from what I heard, they restored it to the original show (or close to it).
