Theme Parks on Google Street View

    Post  Ccron10 on Fri Oct 30, 2009 6:30 pm

Here's a very cool little feature that I just randomly discovered. If you go on Google Maps, zoom into a particular destination, click on the gold-colored figure on the zoom bar and drag it onto a highlighted street, you can actually zoom at street view along that particular road.
Here's the fun thing: How about using this around theme parks?
    Hersheypark:

    Knoebels:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=40.875063,-76.513355&spn=0,359.956613&t=h&z=15&layer=c&cbll=40.875006,-76.513456&panoid=GW3mAwzWdGXY75dZuJqAgg&cbp=12,157.88,,0,3.49

    Dorney Park:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=40.576626,-75.536903&spn=0,359.913225&t=h&z=14&layer=c&cbll=40.576687,-75.536993&panoid=dRor7KQCXUFCZKqNN0hqJQ&cbp=12,7.42,,0,-11.02

Plus there's probably a lot more for other parks. Just click on the arrows to move.

I've been using Street View since it first came out, but I never thought of using it to look at amusement parks. Cool feature!

Bing Maps has a bird's eye view feature that gives an even better view (but is only available in certain areas). As far as Pennsylvania goes, it lets you see Kennywood, Idlewild, Lakemont, Delgrosso's, Hershey, and Dorney. I can't figure out how to make URLs to see them though.

I've heard of Street View but never messed around with it. Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.

However, I always used Bing aerial imagery and always check out the Hershey shots. I also like to check out the other parks (especially out in the west coast that I'll never get to visit, like Disneyland or Magic Mountain). It's so cool to check them out from that perspective.

I barely ever use Bing, but I like this feature. I'll be sure to try it out. Smile

I was experimenting with Google Street View some more and it looks like with certain amusement/theme parks, you can zoom right into the park as if you were the actual guest. I don't know if Ccron10 has pointed this out or not, but I know he mentioned about the streets that go either around or by parks.

But anyways, I just discovered this feature with Hersheypark. Go and take a look for yourself:

Can someone take a look for me at Knoebels on google maps, but with a satellite view. I highly doubt it, but I think it looks like its flooded or something....everything is gray. Just thought it was weird.
